This date is the highlight of the summer season in Evian. It is also the celebration of the Liberation of Evian in 1944, and fireworks are let off from a barge on the lake.
Program for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Evian and the surrounding area:
- Ceremony: Laying of wreaths in memory of those shot, rue de la Source des Cordeliers, Hôtel de Ville, Place Docteur Escoubès, Place Lucien Bonnaz, Splendid and Stade Camille-Fournier, 8:30 a.m. and Pilgrimage to the ossuary, laying of wreaths, cemetery, 9:20 a.m. Mass in memory of the dead of the Resistance, Church, 10am. Parade with the Harmonie, downtown, 11am. Ceremony, wreath-laying and address by ANACR president, Stèle des déportés and Monument aux morts, 11:15 am.
- Torchlight procession (open to all) with music organized by the town. Departure av. Marc Francina, 8:30pm. Free admission.
- Fireworks cruise aboard the Savoie. Boarding at pontoon de la Mouche, 9-11:30pm. Ticket office: www.barquelasavoie.com
- Fireworks on the lake. Opposite the Casino, 10.10pm.
