About
Discover the hamlet of Lain and its mountain pasture and cross the snowy meadows overlooking the hamlet "Chez les Vesin".
To reach the Lain route, where linen and hemp were made, head towards the hamlet of Chez les Vesin, passing the church. At the crossroads turn right. After about 400 m, at a fountain and an oratory, turn left. 50 m further on, you can put on your snowshoes.
Take the path that runs slightly to your left. After an ascent
After a climb, mostly in the undergrowth, you will come to signs, follow the path which continues, flat, to the right. The first buildings appear, on your left a large open space, surmounted by the cliff of Mémises, the mount César and more on the right the mount Bénand (traces of snowshoes can furrow this space, do not leave on these traces which would take you on sectors not marked out).
Continuing on the marked route, you will discover other barns, some of them renovated. This was the place where the farmers of the hamlets of Chez les Vesin and Chez Cachat stored their hay. They would come and collect it in winter with "hay sledges" to feed their animals.
After the barn on your right, follow the long descent through the undergrowth. At the foot of this descent, at the end of the undergrowth, turn slightly to the right and follow the path that will lead you to a nice viewpoint on the dominant cliff of Les Mémises. Continue along the edge of the wood to reach the hamlet of Chez les Vesin. Along the fence, you will join the path used for the climb. Turn left to go back towards the main town.
